A final note! :)

Yes, I know this blog is poorly neglected, and I never really finished posting, but it's not 2010 anymore! :)

If you are interested in hearing more about this trip email me (forhisgloryhandiwork (at) gmail (dot) com), or come visit my other blog - What it Means to Love. Thanks! :)

The Market and Pizza!

Saturday afternoon we had off (see my previous post for Saturday morning). We decided to go to the market and then go out and have pizza. Saturday was also Marge's 78th birthday. Happy Birthday Marge!

Interesting shirt, right? Not something I would wear.

There were clothes, and about anything else you can imagine, everywhere! The currency in Ukraine is called grivna. Grivna is paper money, but it is not at all like American bills, it seems like play money to us. There are also kopecks. There are 100 kopecks in a grivna, so its like our U.S. dollars and penny's. There are also deferrent value coins, like our dimes, nickles, and quarters. The exchange rate is about 8 grivna to 1 U.S. dollar. So the value of a kopeck is 1/8 of a penny! :) I'll share about "The Kopeck Award" in another post.

At the pizza place - Tim, Roma, and Alice

Roma and Sasha (or was it Zhenya, I don't remember) walked us back to our apartments from the pizza place. It was kind of interesting since we didn't have a translator, and Roma only knew about as much English as we did Russian. We were pointing out things to Roma and saying the word in English and then he would say it in Russian. (Roma promised us he would be a translator when we came back.)  Notice Roma's shirt in the picture above? It says in English  "Have a large one". He had no idea what it said; a lot of Ukrainians wear English shirts and have no idea what they say. :) Josi was ridding on Roma's shoulders. It's hard to see in the picture but Brooke tied Josi's shoelaces together. And then me and Brooke stole Josiah's hat off his head, and he had no way of getting it back. :)
